our story

what we’ve done

In early Spring 2021, we piloted a farm-based playgroup for six Latinx Jewish families in the Bay Area. Every family there came back for more.

Since then, the chavurah has increasingly grown to include more families, and our program offerings have expanded, deepening our understanding of who Latinx Jewish families are and what they envision in community.

we’ve become a bridge

Olamim is a bridge between the different cultural communities that comprise our intersectional identities, yet sometimes seem at odds in society.

As a bridge, Olamim actively explores and generates opportunities for solidarity and leadership development from within and between the various cultural communities we love and belong to.

Our language-based programs have become a valuable resource for the Spanish-speaking Latinx community, and enables us to be part of Latinx community in a way that includes our Jewish identities as well.

we are sharing what we’ve learned

We’ve learned so much about ourselves, and are now leading innovative community-based action research we want to share with the world.

In partnership with the Jews of Color Initiative, Mills College, and Jewtina y Co, our work includes qualitative, community-based research on Latinx Jewish families and how they navigate their intersectional identities as they raise their children.

Don’t miss the moment we share our research!

“Olamim is an incredibly special community where we have a unique opportunity to experience the fusion of our multiple identities – in my case Jewish, Latin, Spanish-speaking, Bay Area Native, Mama, protector and admirer of Mother Nature.”
